oh this reminds me of the legends that during the dark days of the year some demons come and frighten the people... here in austria we've got the habit that once a year men dress up as these demons and run through the streets, making noise to frighten away the real demons .... we call it Perchtenlauf .... hehe, maybe there is something similar where you live
